Job Summary

Athabasca Tribal Council is seeking a proactive and community-driven Regional Wellness Taskforce Coordinator to support the coordination and implementation of a region-wide mental health and addictions emergency response. Reporting to the Health Director, this role will oversee the ongoing mobilization of a multi-disciplinary taskforce formed in response to a State of Local Emergency declared on September 7, 2023. The incumbent will be responsible for advancing community-based solutions to the addictions and mental health crisis, aligning stakeholders, and achieving key outcomes across six core wellness pillars. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, cultural humility, and experience working with Indigenous communities in health, social services, or crisis response settings.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the administration and coordination of the SOLE Taskforce monthly meetings, tracking progress, meeting minutes and ensuring follow-through on action items.

  • Plan and facilitate quarterly in person gatherings of the taskforce.

  • Seek out and write grant proposals that align with the priorities of the taskforce.

  • Ensuring alignment with the mandate set by ATC leadership.

  • Develop and manage taskforce workplans, timelines, and success indicators.

  • Engage community members, leaders, Elders, and youth to inform and guide culturally relevant responses with the 6 identified pillars.

  • Collaborate with internal departments, member Nations, and external partners to support a coordinated service delivery approach and develop referral pathways relating to addictions and mental health supports.

  • Link the Taskforce to regional health, addictions, and social service systems to strengthen care pathways.

  • Build local capacity through training, tools, and knowledge sharing to empower communities to sustain progress.

  • Prepare and deliver progress reports, presentations, and documentation for ATC leadership and external funders.

  • Represent ATC and the Taskforce at meetings, conferences, and events.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the organization’s goals and operational needs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health, Social Work, Indigenous Studies, Project Management, or related field.

  • 3–5 years of experience in project coordination, health/social services, or community-based programming.

  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and understanding of culturally safe practices.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage timelines, priorities, and multiple stakeholders.

  • Effective communication and facilitation skills, including experience engaging diverse groups.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools.

  • PMP or related certification considered an asset.

  • Knowledge of Indigenous mental health, addictions, or crisis intervention considered an asset.

  • Knowledge of Cree or Dene is considered an asset.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.

  • Clear Child Intervention Record Check.

  • Class 5 Drivers License with a clear Drivers abstract.

  • Available to travel and work outside of business hours when necessary.

Job Types: Fixed-Term Contract (2 years), Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
