Norma Jean Keeping
Building Confidence Through Project Management
Today, Norma Jean Keeping is applying new project management skills in her work with greater confidence and understanding. This is a step forward that began when she enrolled in the Basics of Project Management program.
Norma Jean, 53, was born on the northern shores of Lake Athabasca. With a commitment to lifelong learning and personal growth, she saw the program as an opportunity to strengthen her skills and gain new insight into the work she does every day.
From the start, the course offered a supportive and structured learning environment. Norma Jean appreciated the instructor’s clear approach and dedication to helping participants succeed.
“The instructor was very clear and helpful,” she shared. “He was always making sure we understood the process and got our assignments done.”
Throughout the program, participants were placed into small groups of four, encouraging teamwork and shared learning. Working together helped everyone stay focused and motivated as they completed their assignments.
For Norma Jean, the experience reinforced an important lesson about perseverance and possibility.
“When you start something, anything is possible.”
One of the proudest moments of the program came when she received her Certificate of Achievement, recognizing the effort and commitment she brought to completing the course.
The training has already made a difference in her day-to-day work. Norma Jean says the program helped her better understand the processes behind the tasks she performs, giving her new perspective and confidence in her role.
Reflecting on the experience, she offers encouragement to others who may be thinking about taking a similar step.
“Anything is possible. Never doubt yourself.”
Programs like the Basics of Project Management create opportunities for continued growth, helping participants build practical skills, strengthen confidence, and apply new knowledge in their workplaces and communities.
The Basics of Project Management Program is offered through the Athabasca Tribal Council, and in partnership with Keyano College. The Province of Alberta is working in partnership with the Government of Canada to provide employment support programs and services.
