WEEK 2 – AWARENESS - SELF-AWARENESS AND SITUATIONAL AWARENESS

In week two we dive into the two governing types of awareness. Self and situational awareness are on a spectrum and we can only survive and thrive based on our current level of awareness. When practiced, the insight awareness can provide, helps to keep us safe or if ignored, put us in danger. Understanding self-awareness and situational awareness is a key to our personal safety and developing our self-worth. Self-awareness is being present to what is going on inside of us, and Situational awareness is being present to what is going on outside of us at any given time.

These are the building blocks to creating a greater sense of personal safety and self-love that will help to carry you on your path forward. As our self-awareness is brought into the light, our compassion and understanding for our personal strengths and weaknesses come to the forefront to be embraced and explored. Learning emotional regulation with mindfulness, compassion, and the ability to “try again” is our path to power.

This week, we take a look at our personal progress and identify areas where we can bring greater awareness to the community youth as well as ourselves. By understanding our personal boundary style, combined with our self-and situational awareness, we can predict

the outcomes of our actions and create a pathway for greater safety. These basic survival skills are turned inward, uncovering our own resistance and barriers to change.
