Connecting to a
Path Forward
Addictions, Healing & Community Support
Across the five Nations served by the Athabasca Tribal Council, families are carrying the weight of substance use, grief, and mental health challenges. The impacts are real. They are personal. They are felt across generations.
This space is here to help you connect to a path forward.
Not a perfect path.
Not a straight line.
But a way forward that honours personal choice, cultural strength, and the support of community walking beside you.
Here you will find information offering grounded, culturally rooted connections so individuals and families can move at their own pace.
“Healing is not a straight road. It is relational. It is cultural. It is a return to balance. It is a circle.”
Grounded in Cree and Dene teachings, these webpages offer guidance through the medicine wheel framework. Substance use breaks the very foundation of Indigenous Wellness, it breaks the connections we have with ourselves, our loved ones and our community. These broken connections are not limited to the individual; they are felt by everyone. Through the Medicine Wheel, healing has always taken place through connection.
