The date for the gardening kit distribution has changed to respect the recent loss in the community.

THE NEW DATE IS MAY 17, 2023.

Fresh vegetables can be hard to come by and grow in northern communities.
That is why ATC is giving away Hydroponic Garden Kits to Fort Chipewyan community members. The Kit has 12 planting beds, allowing you to germinate sprouts and grow herbs and smaller vegetables 365 days a year.

Limit one per household. Only 100 available. First Come, First Served.

ABOUT THIS PROGRAM

This program is part of the Harvesters Support Grant, funded by Nutrition North Canada.

The Grant provides funding to Indigenous governments and organizations to support hunting, harvesting and food sharing in isolated communities.

Fort Chipewyan is eligible for the Harvesters Support Grant, as it meets the following requirements:

• be eligible for the Nutrition North Canada subsidy

• lack year-round surface transportation (no permanent road, rail or marine access)

• be reliant on air transportation for more than 8 months each year

• meet the territorial or provincial definition of a northern community

• have an airport, post office, or grocery store

• have a year-round population according to the national census
